Crystal Palace Adventure with CBA London – Saturday 20th July 2019
This event is now open to the public.
For our Festival of Archaeology special event, CBA London has arranged an intriguing — and unusual — visit to Crystal Palace Park.
Dr Jonathan Gardner (UCL Institute of Archaeology) will lead a guided walk through Crystal Palace Park discussing its archaeology and history, using highlights and insights from his PhD research. Covering its c.80 years as a world famous exhibition and entertainment venue, its multitude of different uses in the 20th century, and its status today as a much loved public park, this tour will provide a new long-term look at the heritage of the Crystal Palace and its surroundings, from the remains of the relocated buildings of the 1851 Great Exhibition to the world’s first dinosaur statues to a hidden vaulted subway.
Note that we’ll be walking across hilly and occasionally uneven terrain around the park, so suitable footwear is required. We’ll give meeting details to all those booking.
Once the event is sold out, we will open a waiting list. Our policy is to give a refund only if the event is sold out and the place can be filled from the waiting list.
